Common questions

Why is there a price even for the Self-Drafted tier?

Because writing a Will is too important to leave to a free tool that may quietly disappear. Charging — even a modest amount — lets us invest in keeping the product running, the security audited, and the legal compliance current. The founding-cohort ₹2,500 price (75% off the standard ₹10,000) gets you the full guided experience, the lawyer-grade PDF, and the CAS import — at the price of a casual dinner. Subsequent updates and codicils to the same Will are free.

What's the difference between Planner-Reviewed and Lawyer-Partner-Reviewed?

A Finamana planner is great at spotting tax inefficiencies, missing assets, and weak executor/witness choices. A lawyer-partner review is essential when your estate has structural complexity — Hindu Undivided Family (HUF) assets, overseas property, business shares, blended families, trusts, or contested assets. If you're not sure which you need, start with Self-Drafted, then write to us at amit.kallianpur@gmail.com.

Will the Self-Drafted Will hold up in court?

Yes — when properly executed. The Will Sealar generates is compliant with Section 63 of the Indian Succession Act, 1925: signed by you in the presence of two adult witnesses (who also sign), on plain paper. Stamp paper and registration are not mandatory in India. That said, for high-value or complex estates, a lawyer's involvement materially reduces the chance of a successful challenge.

Why is the founding-cohort pricing 50–75% off?

Two reasons. First, our founding cohort gives us real feedback while we shape the product — that's worth a discount. Second, we're a Mumbai-based financial planning firm doing this alongside Finamana, not a VC-funded startup with money to burn on free trials. The pricing has to make business sense from day one. After the founding cohort closes, prices step up to ₹10,000 / ₹15,000 / ₹20,000 respectively. Founding-cohort members keep their pricing for any future updates or codicils.

Can I update my Will later?

Absolutely — and you should. Major life events (marriage, divorce, birth of a child, big asset purchases) all warrant an update. With Sealar you sign back in, edit your draft, and download a fresh PDF. Codicils to an existing Will are included free for founding-cohort members. The Lawyer-Partner-Reviewed tier includes an annual review reminder.

Where is my data stored?

All your wizard data lives in Google Cloud Firestore in the asia-south1 (Mumbai) region, in a private record only you can access. CAS PDFs are parsed entirely in your browser and never reach our servers. See our Privacy Policy for the full DPDP-Act-2023-compliant breakdown.
